Did you know that animals use their breath to live their best and healthiest lives, just like us? Come along on a mindfulness adventure to the animal kingdom, followed by a dance party!
Welcome, mis amigos. Today, we are going on an adventure to the animal kingdom to learn how to breathe like our animal friends. Whether you are sitting down or standing up, feel your feet on the ground and raise your shoulders up and down. Great, now, focus your attention on something in the room you like to look at, like your favorite toy or a picture on the wall. Muy bien. Do you feel how your body breathes all by itself? Just like you, animals use their breath to live their best, healthiest lives. Let's practice breathing just like our first animal friend, a whale, or una ballena en Espanol. Are you ready to go on a deep sea breathing adventure? Vamos. Whales have a lot in common with people. They're very social. They take great care of their children. And they can be really affectionate. Oh, they have a lot in common with moose too. Oh yeah, Fabio. And they breathe air, just like the both of us. So right now, we're going to do some whale breaths. To get your whale breath on, sit down. Yes, yes. Sit up tall. Mm-hmm. Take a deep breath in. Then, tilt your head up and put your hands around your mouth to make a blowhole like a whale. Now, exhale out of the blowhole. [BLOWS] Ready? Let's try one. [BREATHES] All right, so now get nice and comfortable. Close your eyes or keep them open. Whatever feels right to you. And let's do seven whale breaths. [BREATHING IN AND OUT] Nice whale breaths. Very good. And now, let's hop over to the garden for a relaxing adventure with our bunny friends, or un conejito en Espanol. Vamos, mis amigos. Did you know you breathe about 15 to 25 times per minute? That's 21,000 to 36,000 breaths a day. That's a lot of breaths. And now, we're going to triple it by doing some bunny breaths. To get your bunny breath on, take three quick sniffs in, like you're sniffing around for carrots, And one long exhale out. Try it. [BREATHES IN AND OUT] Now, get comfortable. Close your eyes, or keep them open, whatever feels right. And let's bunny breathe. Ready? Three quick sniffs in and breathe out. Three sniffs in and out. Sniff in and out. Three sniffs in and out. Sniff in, breathe out. In, and breathe out. Sniff in, breathe out. Three in, breathe out. Three in and out. Three sniffs in and out. Sniff in and out. Nice bunny breathing. Muy bien, amigos. I'm feeling happy and calm from all of this breathing. How are you feeling? Are you ready to try breathing like a snake Or una serpiente en Espanol? Vamos. Snakes stress most people out. Ah, snakes? Where? Where? So it's kind of funny and weird that doing snake breaths can actually calm down your body and brain. Don't worry, there's no snakes, Fabio. Phew! To get your snake breath on, take a deep breath in through your nose and then exhale through your mouth while making a hissing sound. Try it. [BREATHES IN AND OUT] Oh, these breaths are fun. So get comfortable, close your eyes or keep them open, whatever feels right. And let's take some snake breaths. Ready? Breathe in, hiss out. [HISSES] Breathe in, hiss out. [HISSES] In, hiss out. [HISSES] Breathe in and out. [HISSES] In, hiss out. [HISSES] Breathe and hiss out. [HISSES] In, out. [HISSES] Nice work. I'm impressed with your snake breath. That was really cool. Now, we're going to imagine we've got wings. And we're taking a trip around the garden to visit our favorite flowers. That's right. It's time to practice our bee breath. Or una abeja en Espanol. In 3, 2 1, vamos. Honey bees can recognize human faces. Can they recognize moose faces? Good question. And I don't know. Oh. But I do know that bee breaths are an amazing way to calm down. To get your bee breath on, sit up straight, close your eyes, put your fingers gently in your ears, and breathe in. Then breathe out, making the sound of a humming bee. Try it. [BREATHES IN AND OUT] Now, make sure you're comfy. And let's take some bee breaths. Ready? OK. Breathe in, hum out. [HUMS] Breathe in and hum out [HUMS] In and out. [HUMS] In, hum out. [HUMS] Breathe in, hum out. [HUMS] In and out. [HUMS] Breathe in, hum out. [HUMS] Great. Bee breaths are great for when you're frustrated, anxious, or even angry. Well, what about when you're hungry, huh? No. Oh. Very good work, amigos. I'm so proud of you. And I'm having so much fun. Only one more animal to go. Are you ready to breathe like an elephant? Or un elefante en Espanol? Vamos. Elephants only sleep about four hours a night. You'd think they'd be exhausted all day long. But they're not. If you're feeling sluggish, elephant breaths can help perk you up. I need a quick pick me up. To get your elephant breath on, stand with your feet wide apart. And dangle your arms in front of you like an elephant trunk. Breathe in through your nose as you raise your arms high above your head. Then breathe out through your mouth as you swing your arms down. Try it. [BREATHES IN AND OUT] Hey, look at me. I'm a moosephant. Yes, you are. Let's stand tall, and let's breathe like a herd of elephants. Ready? Breathe in and out. Breathe in, arms up. Breathe out, arms down. Breathe in and up. Breathe out and down. Breathe in and up. And out and down. Breathe in. Breathe out. Breathe in, arms up. Lower them. Breathe in, arms up. Breathe out, arms down. Breathe in and out. Raise up. Arms down. Breathe in. Breathe out. Nice hopefully these breaths left you to energized. And to make sure you stay energized, try to get at least nine hours of sleep each night. You may breathe like an elephant. But you shouldn't sleep like one. I have so much energy now. I want to dance. [MUSIC PLAYING] Fabio can dance. Wow, you did it. And we met so many amazing animal friends along the way. Now, let's get up and shake it out with my favorite animal of all, una Medusa, a jellyfish. Vamos. Arms up. Arms up. Wrists together. Wrists together. Elbows together. Elbows together. Knees together. Knees together. Feet apart. Feet apart. Bum out. Bum out. And do the jellyfish, the jellyfish, the jellyfish, the jellyfish. Arms up. Arms up. Wrists together. Wrists together. Elbows together. Elbows together. Knees together. Knees together. Feet apart. Feet apart. Bum out. Bum out. Head to the right. Head to the right? And do the jellyfish, the jellyfish, the jellyfish, the jellyfish. Arms up. Arms up. Wrists together. Wrists together. Elbows together. Elbows together. Knees together. Knees together. Feet apart. Feet apart. Bum out. Bum out. Head to the right. Head to the right. Tongue out. Tongue out. And do the jellyfish, the jellyfish, the jellyfish, the jellyfish. Arms up. Arms up. Wrists together. And do the jellyfish, the jellyfish, the jellyfish, the jellyfish, the jellyfish, the jellyfish, the jellyfish, the jellyfish, the jellyfish, the jellyfish, the jellyfish, the jellyfish.
