McPufferson realizes that changing our minds (our initial choices) can be hard AND might be the best thing to do.
[MUSIC PLAYING] Heyo, Super Noodlers. McPufferson here again. Today, we're going to learn about another choice skill. We're going to explore that it's OK to change your mind. Don't feel too stuck with choices you make that don't work out. After all, sometimes we need to hit the reset button, have a redo, a reboot, and even a restart. For example, if we're playing the piano and we accidentally hit a wrong key, it's OK to start over. You might start solving a math problem and quickly realize it's not working. It's OK to start over and look at it from a fresh perspective. Or if you're making a cake, but if mixed in or have left out a particular ingredient, you might have to start over. It's part of changing our minds, starting over, and making new choices. And it's really OK to begin again, just like we did when the storm came and flooded the Hall of Autonomy. [MUSIC PLAYING] One time, Flash Bolton and I decided to go visit Squatchy at Question Mark Caverns. We both had visited him many times before, but this time we got lost. There are certain landmarks we always look for in the woods, like the tree that has branches that have grown into the shape of a giant heart, and the fact that the river should have been on our right side, but not on our left. As we got deeper into the Fitness Forest and deeper into our conversation about beetles, we forgot to pay attention to where we were going. Luckily, Flash had been snacking on sunflower seeds, spitting them out along the way. All we had to do was follow the shells to get back to Squatchy's for our jam session. We were able to pivot, adjust our situation, and start over. Noticing, adjusting, reversing, backtracking, and beginning again are skills that make us better at getting to where we want to go. Get good at making choices. It's up to you. Choosing to move forward in our situation helped us make our way over to Squatchy's place.
