Countdown to Family Fun!

There’s always a ton of excitement with the start of a new year and this year is definitely no exception! With a year as wild as this one has been, we are all more than ready to say goodbye to 2021 and celebrate a fresh start in 2022. Here are a few fun, budget-friendly ways to ring in 2022 as a family. ~ Sitaara Jones

Countdown to Family Fun!

Do it BIG with balloons!
You can’t have a New Year celebration without balloons! Here are a few ways to use them to add a festive touch to your party.

  • Blow up balloons, gather them up in a sheet or garbage bag, and release them during your countdown (could be as simple as standing on a step stool and letting them fly)! Record the whole thing on your cell phone in slow motion to catch the joy on everyone's faces!
  • Create your own [balloon] ball drop! Blow up as many balloons as you’d like and tie a long string to one balloon in the center. Use leftover tape from gift wrapping to attach blown up balloons to each other in the shape of a ball. Hang or tape the string to the ceiling and party like it’s 1999 (or 2022!)

Make Sweet Treats and Sweet Memories
Celebrate all of your sweet plans for the upcoming year with treats that match!

  • Add flair to your traditional sweet treats with sparkly edible add-ons. We love edible gold glitter and edible gold dust. A simple yet impressive way to really dress up your traditional cookies, cupcakes, or cake!
  • Swing into the New Year with a pinata! Pinatas are always a good idea and add the perfect activity for littles. They are also easy to make and you can stuff just about anything inside - we love the idea of filling them with confetti, jokes, or even notes if you want to skip out on the traditional candy stuffers. We love this DIY pinata pack, especially because it comes with three mini pinatas, making disagreements over who gets to go first - obsolete!
  • Level up your party horn game with these edible party horns! Super cute and super yummy, these ice-cream-cones-turned-party-horns are sure to be the star of your party.

Create Keepsakes
Set a resolution to make more memories this year with these easy and budget friendly ideas.

  • Create a wish jar full of good wishes for 2022. For a positive start to the new year, cut strips of colored paper and label jars with each person's name - then write a New Year’s wish for each person and place it in their jar. Close the jars and have each person read their wishes in the morning.

Say Cheese!
Speaking of memories, record your family fun for posterity and set up a super fun photo booth that won’t break the bank!

  • Fun photo booth props are a must and this inexpensive pack of fun props will liven up the party for sure!
  • Try this evergreen blow up New Year’s frame for tons of photo bombing fun for years to come.
  • Hang a sheet for your photo booth backdrop or make your own and decorate it as a family. A black sheet with gold or silver craft paint will look so festive!
